    Sherlock... as a first name?

I've seen Sherlock on several berry's lists... though almost always as a 'middle name only' or 'just a guilty pleasure'.

So I was wondering, who out there thinks it could actually work as a first name?

EDIT: I forgot to add a 'neutral' option, so if you have no strong opinion, just don't vote in the poll!

In the US Midwest a lot of people use a colorful phrase which includes the name (No sh#@, Sherlock!)...I'd avoid it, so the kid wouldn't have to hear that all the time.

Yeah I do worry about the phrase, it is in use here in England too.

I love Sherlock! I'd like to say I'd use it at as a first, because I can somehow imagine having a little Sherlock; I don't think I'll ever be brave enough though. But I definitely want to use it as a middle. If I do, a small part of me is kind of hoping my (future) son will decide to go by his middle. The phrase is a pretty annoying downside.

Sherlock would make a quirky middle name option, but I think it's a one person name.
    Edward ▵ Samuel ▵ Theodore ▵ James ▵ George
    Helen ▵ Georgia ▵ Rose ▵ Mary ▵ Iris
    Ciarán ▵ Blaise ▵ Fionnbharr ▵ Remus ▵ Perseus
    Jane ▵ Alice ▵ Niamh ▵ Minerva ▵ Guinevere
