I agree that Beau is more a standalone name.

I do have Bo on my girls list though, but as a nickname for Bodil.

Hubby loves Beau! I don't prefer it as a stand alone but Boaz is growing on me but not sure if Boaz would lend well to nn Beau or if it would always get shortened to Bo.

I love Beauregard (Beau). Part of it's charm is in its spelling! To me it has that "aww shucks" Southern country-boy kind of charm... like it's dignified without taking itself too seriously. Bo is more preppy to me. Other names that give me that same "Beau" feeling:
    Theodore (Teddy)
    Clinton
    Jefferson
    Abraham (Abe)
    Esau
    Jethro
    Chester (Chet)
    Frankie
    Shae
    Dwight
    Lionel (Lee)

I wouldn't use the name Beau because I'm French and I used to live there, and when girls talked about boys "Il est trop beau" was like "he is so hot" so if I was going to move there I wouldn't like to use it but it sounds so amazing and I really like this name! I would spell it Bo for a girl (like in Junie B Jones) and Beau for a boy.
