How to honor this name? (without using the exact name)

This was definitely hard, but here are my suggestions…
Federica\Frederica nn Rica
There are some lovely US place names you could use, if it wouldn’t seem too cheesy a tribute: Virginia, Carolina, Alaska, etc.
I agree with @bonfireazalea: you might want to see if there is any other way (e.g., a favorite flower) you could honor this person.
