    Lavinia?

Lavinia has caught my attention in a big way lately. It sounds elegant, not too frilly despite the four syllables, and sweetly old-fashioned. Also, it serves as an honorific: my mom, who is Indian, is named Lavanya. Lavinia is very similar in pronunciation to Lavanya and sounds very much like an Anglicization of it.

Anyway, what do you think of Lavinia?

I really like Lavinia. It has a vintage yet sophisticated feel and is a great way to honour your mum. I also love the nns Liv/Livvy and Vinnie

I love it. I first heard it on Downton Abbey and fell hard for it. It's beautiful and classic, without being overused.

I like Lavinia! It's started to grow on me even though I never much cared for it before. Emily Dickinson had a sister named Lavinia, affectionately called Vinnie. I think it sounds very feminine but somehow not frilly, like you said. I give Lavinia a thumbs up.
