Thread: Dated favorites?
May 2nd, 2014 12:44 PM #1
Are there any dated names you like that everyone thinks of as just mom and dad names? I'm thinking about names popular in the 60's, 70's and 80's mostly. I think the 50's names are starting to get a vintage charm to them (thanks Mad Men!) so I'm not including those.
My list of dated favorites:
Amanda, Erica/Erika, Christina, Beth, Bethany, Lindsay, Felicia, Megan, Jeannine, Lauren, Heidi, Tracy, Jennifer, Annette, Kirsten, Carla, Wendy, Holly.
Gregory, Courtney, Geoffrey, Eric/Erik, Mark, Keith
My boys list is much shorter. I think because the girls style isn't really all that different, other than being overly familiar, while the boys names of this area don't appeal to me as much sound wise.

I think I was born in the perfect naming period for myself, because I cannot stand dated names. All the 70's/'80s/90s names are absolutely NOT my style.// Mary Kathryn / Twenty / Political Science Major / Captivated by Names //

While I didn't find these three decades the most interesting for baby names, there are a few I can tolerate. Some of the names overlap between the decades so I'll only post each one once. I'm not going to include classic names like Elizabeth, James or John because they're not "dated" to me.
