What do you think of the name Jade? I started a thread in the Boys Names forum but thought a poll would be better.

What characteristics do you see for a little guy/girl named Jade?

I think it would be better on a boy but I haven't met a male Jade. It is kind of rough on a girl and just nice for a boy. He could use Jay if he didn't like the girl thing.

I like it more for a girl, but I wouldn't mind it on a boy.

My name is Erin. I am 23 years old and I have been a proud name nerd since I was 10.

The only Jade I have known was my cousin, Skylar Jade, so my first reaction is female.
But being a nature/color name I feel like it can go either way and I wouldn't be put off by a little boy Jade.

I'm asking because I just started a new job (since DH is on parental leave & pushing me to go back to work) & I'm working with a guy named Jade. My boss said "Jade will be here to show you the ropes" & I just assumed it would be a woman. Got in & was a bit (pleasantly) surprised to see Jade was a man. Also I apparently went to high school with him. What are the odds.
