    Lightbulb WDYT of the name Cambria?

    So I'm an undergrad student of geography and I'm really digging this name all of the sudden. What do you think of it?
    How would you personally pronounce it? I pronounce it "Kay-m-bree-ah".

    Do you know any Cambrias?

    Since you are a geography student, you probably know that Cambria is the classical Latin name for the country of Wales. Unless a place has some personal significance for you, I'm not really a fan of place names myself. The only "Cam" name I like is Camille. I don't know any girl by the name but I've seen it mentioned every so often on the internet. It's too similar to the Toyota Camry car to give it much notice. You may also have come across these names.

    England = Albion
    Scotland = Caledonia
    Ireland = Hibernia

    Also, there is a province called Nova Scotia (or New Scotland).
    All the best,
    Mischa.

    Firstly, I would say it cam-bree-a with a short a sound. Secondly, I do not care for this name. It sounds too much like other things and is just a bit of a muddle really.

    As far as I know the 'cam' is pronounced like the start of Camille. I don't see it as a person name as, like Mischa said, it's an old name for Wales.

    I like it. I think I may prefer Camille. I love place names as well, so Cambria is one on my list. I wouldn't name a child that, but it is certainly usable.
