    Horrors from the Past

Here are some truly strange names from a genealogy book on my ancestors (most born 1895-1920). These are only first and/or middle. Also, I'm making a similar post about the "good" names I found.

All these spellings are correct. The weird typos are not weird typos. They are actual people's names.

    Murtle Catherin
    Macel Glendolyn
    Mellisia Gertrude
    Merle Eugene
Erma Gladys (not really strange for the time period, but still)

    Mildred and Ballard
    Burnice, Burl and Wilford
    Jerry Ray and Cheri Rae
    Thelma Dae and Alma Fae

I've always had a soft spot for the name Burl. This is probably due to watching too many Christmas shows as a child with Burl Ives singing some catchy tunes (his songs were featured in "Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer"). I like Alma but definitely not with Thelma.
    All the best,

Very interesting! I've always wanted to do genealogy myself to see what gems (or horrors) I could dig up.
"Walter. That’s good. I’ve never known a little kid named Walter. It seems like an old man’s name, but I guess you have to start somewhere."
