    Isibèal

How would you pronounce Isibèal? Is it said like Isabel or is it pronounced differently because its Gaelic? I'm just curious I love Gaelic names as they were unheard of when I was younger. Feel free to share your favourite Gaelic names

    Thanks

I think it's pronounced more like 'ISH-bale' but I'm not sure.

According to a quick Google search, it appears to be pronounced as Isabelle, however, on this site, it appears to be Ish-a-bell, with the 'sh' being slurred together.

Another form of the name is Sibéal, which I would assume is Sha-bell, similar to say, Sian.

It's a bit tricky though, as I'm not sure how reliable these sources are.

Iseabail is pronounced Ish-bell (it's one of my favourites, it's Scottish Gaelic) but I've never seen Isibeal.

I'd assume it was ISH-bell and just a different translation from Gaelic, maybe something more like ish-BEEL... and it looks more Irish than Scottish to me, although I'm no expert, I'd assume it was the Irish equivalent of Scottish Iseabail (Irish and Scottish Gaelic are similar languages but definitely not the same).

I do love Gaelic names though and I'm really interested in different Celtic languages (I'm have almost entirely Scottish/Irish heritage, but then most English people do haha) Some of my favourites are...
    Eilidh (AY-lee)
    Ailbhe (Alva)
    Iseabail (ISH-bell)
    Eibhlin (EV-lin)
    Ailsa
    Eimer (EE-mer)
    Orlaith (Or-la)
    Aine (Anya)
    Siofra (SHE-fra)
    Ceitidh (Katie)
Tuilelaith (often translated as Talullah, but it's actually said more like Twill-AY-lah)
Betsan - I think this is more Brythonic than Gaelic. Same with Fenella, Nessa, Imogen.

I don't speak gaelic but, based on my limited knowledge of how the language works and other similar Irish names, I would say it ISH-bail (maybe with a slight 'ih' in between ish and bail). I think this because of the name Sibeal which is said Shi-BAIL (but the 'shi' is a really short syllable) - at least, the Sibeal I know pronounces her name like this, and Sibeal is apparently a variant of Isibeal.
