Also, she's a pretty polarizing figure, it seems people either love or hate her.
Yeah, I've noticed this too regarding polarisation of Scarlett-liking I've read it through... three (?)... times now and I still love it. It's possibly my favourite of my favourite books

I love that Scarlett is truly flawed*, it's what makes her actions so fascinating and she wouldn't be nearly as strong or as savvy without them. In fact, all of the characters in GWtW have their own complex issues which is probably what makes it such a feast to read. They're so multi layered I feel like I noticed something new in every read through.

And... no stereotypical happy ending! It's uplifting, certainly, but far from happy. Love it

*Not just some garbage like 'oh she was a bit clumsy' and that's it.

For me, Scarlett's flaws are what make me love her--she's gritty and real. That doesn't mean I'd want to be exactly like her or that I think her flaws are good, but they do make her incredibly human and relatable.

A lot of my favorite names are ones that I first heard in books, and have positive character associations, but as for specific characters I'd name my kids after directly...not many. They've got to have names I love, and be characters I love.

    Serious contenders:

Louise (Sara Louise Bradshaw, Jacob Have I Loved)
Anne (Anne Shirley, Anne of Green Gables)
    Rebecca (Rebecca of York, Ivanhoe)
    Hector (The Iliad)
    Erik (Erik Lehnsherr/Magneto, X-Men comics)

    More GP-type things

Theoden and Eowyn (Lord of the Rings)
    Remus (Remus Lupin, Harry Potter)
    Andromache (The Iliad)
Julia. Teenage lifelong name nerd and future mother

Nathan, Robert, David, Eli/Eliot, Samuel (Sam), James (Jamie), Erik, Rowan, Theodore (Teddy/Ted), Avery, Hector, Benjamin, Luke, Joseph (Joey/Joe)

Eulalia (Loula/Lou), Mary, Catherine (Catlin/Cat), Fern, Honor, Louise, Olivia, Anna/Anne, Joanna, Jane, Laura, Rose, Aoife, Charlotte, Elaine
