I'd personally be up for using:

    Marie
    Alice
Rose - Probably won't really use. Only like as FN.
    Lillian
    Irene - Husband hates.
    Martha
    Hazel
    Esther - Could really happen.
    Beatrice
    Ida - Husband hates
    Jean
    Viola
    Mabel
Jane - Husband thought I was insaaaane.
    Lena
Vivian - but prefer Vivien, as in Leigh.
    Violet - Love
Marguerite - Have always liked this, friend's MN.
    Mae - But husband dislikes
Opal - Mutual married shortlist, could really happen!
Juanita - I can't explain why I like this as much as I do.

Ruth I have sort of lost custody of as a name to my sister, but it isn't bad.

I think Helen, Margaret, Sylvia, and a number of the others are certainly usable, I just don't like them at all.

"But while some of the brightest of our celestial bodies are actually extinct now, their energy long since cooled, but miraculously, because they float in the heavens so far away from us now, their beautiful light will continue to shine on us forever, and the glow will be so bright, it'll warm your heart, it'll make your eyes glisten, and it'll make you think to yourselves, what a concept"

    I'd use:
Ruth - My mum's name so I'd like to use it as a middle name, but it is also lovely as a first name
    Martha
    Clara
    Lena

I think these are completely usable - I just wouldn't use them personally:
    Helen
    Margaret
    Frances
    Marie
    Evelyn
    Alice
    Florence
    Rose
    Lillian
    Louise
    Josephine
    Eleanor
    Hazel
    Lucille
    Annie
    Esther
    Ann
    Elsie
    Lois
Jean - I'd love to meet a baby Jean
    Stella
    Jane
    Lillie
    Genevieve
    Jennie
    Mattie
    Leona
    Vivian
    Violet
    Mae
    Ellen
    Carrie
    Theresa
    Juanita
    Hattie

These ones I'd love to see used but you'd have to be a little bit brave to use them I think:
    Dorothy
Gladys - I knew a teenaged Gladys and her name really suited her.
    Ethel
    Thelma
    Marjorie
    Ida
    Mabel
    Myrtle
    Nellie
    Betty
    Jessie
    Vera
    Alma
    Marguerite
    Rita
    Opal
