The Julius Caesar reference in this post just made me think of Augustus as the awful Roman emperor (who also basically invented using sexuality to discredit women in politics).
I would definitely go with August over Augustus. It has the same feel and just seems to me to have a more neutral connotation. I actually really like the name August for a boy.

    I'd eliminate:

Aurelia - It's pretty in theory but there's just something 'off' about it!
    Calista - I prefer Callie or Caroline/Carolina.
Carys - Just don't care for the sound.
    Clea - Definitely prefer Cleo.
    Delilah - I prefer Lila.
    Eliza - I prefer Elizabeth.
Elowen - Not a fan of -wen names.
Flora/Florence - Florence is just not for me!
Isla - Pretty but super trendy!
Maeve - I like Eve and Mae but not Maeve.
Peyton - This is male to me.
Primrose - Way too frilly for me but might work with a simple first name.
Quinn - All male to me!
    Serena - Feels dated.
Viola - Reminds me of Violin.
Violet - Just don't care for it.

Cordelia - I love this in theory but wouldn't use it... would love to see someone else use it though!
    Estelle - Simple and underused.
    Evangeline - Stunning.
Gemma - A nice alternative to Emma.
    Hazel - An up-and-comer.
    Ivy - Lovely.
    Lydia - Loooove.
    Ruby - Simple and sweet.
Stella - A nice alternative to the super popular Ella.

    Eliminate:

Atlas - Too much like the map.
    Augustus - Prefer August.
Beckett - I like it in theory but dislike "Beck".
    Cassius - Can't stand "cash-us"... do like cass-ee-us though!
Cormac - Too Irish for me.
Finnegan - I prefer Phineas or Finley.
Julius - Just don't care for -ius names!

Magnus - Not bad in theory but I don't like the sound of it.

    Arthur - Uncommon and refreshing.
August - Love Gus as a nickname.
Bennett - Super sweet and a more modern alternative to the classic Benjamin.
    Caspian - So awesome!
Davis - A fun alternative to David.

    Marshall - Cute.

    I love (and would keep):
    Beatrice
    Clara
    Eliza
    Elowen
    Florence
    Isla
    Viola
    Violet
    Ivy
    Hazel

    Arthur
    August (but not Augustus)
    Bennett
    Caspian (LOVE!!!!)
    Silas
    Theodore

I'd eliminate (a lot of these are personal associations though):
Clea- It sounds a bit like a medical term, much prefer Cleo/Clio.
Cora- Very bad associations for me (kind of).
Serena- I know a Serena; she does not suit or give any appeal to the name.

Beckett- Reminds me of Sir Thomas Becket (studied him in History), although I doubt many others will know or make the link.
    Cormac- Reminds me of Tarmac.
Finnegan- Reminds me of the Michael Finnegan rhyme/song.
Augustus- I can only think of Augustus Gloop/Roman Emperors.
Wholocked, history and chemistry loving teenberry (16).
