    Name The Baby Polar Bear!

Hello Berries, ok, I know that a polar bear isn't a pet but I think this Pets Forum is the best place for my post. The Toronto Zoo has a baby polar bear that needs a name. This cub is a miracle. He is the lone survivor of three cubs born to mother Aurora and was not expected to live past the age of three months. The zoo has been working hard to increase his chances of survival. He's too cute (see video below).

The zoo has also announced the six finalist names for the cub and the public can vote on the website for their favourite. Which name would you vote for, Berries? The names are:

Humphrey: It means Peaceful Warrior. The name was derived from the Germanic elements hun, which means bear cub, and frid, which means peace.

    Orson: Latin for bear.

James: Derived from James Bay. A previous cub was name Hudson after Hudson’s Bay and is this cub’s brother.

Lorek: Comes from the movie Golden Compass. Lorek is derived from the word laurel, which is a symbol of victory.

    Searik: Inuit for beautiful.

Stirling: Means genuine, high quality, and pure.
    All the best,
    Mischa.

I just died from cuteness overload! I think Humphrey would fit him best.

@polina - Humphrey is my favourite choice too. Orson is my second pick and then Stirling. James is a fine name but too serious for a polar bear. Lorik sounds odd to me and Searik sound like "see Rick".
    All the best,
    Mischa.

While I agree that James is a bit too serious for a little cub, I think it'd be my second choice. They could use the nickname Jamie and James when he grows up and becomes a big serious bear!

The bear in His Dark Materials - Phillip Pullman is Iorek, not Lorek.

I prefer Searik or Orson from your list. Iorek would be even better though.
