    Favorite Girls Name

So, as we prepare to find out the sex of our little one, I have taken it upon myself to widen my search for Star Trek/Star Wars/Stargate themed names for my hubby. He has told me that he doesn't mind respelling some of them, if it would make it easier to pronounce. I tend to like 2 syllable names, because I want her to go by her given name and not a nickname. Names that sound like nicknames are fine with me, as are made-up names. Here are the top 10, their alternate spellings, and connections:

Annika (Anaka) - ST, Seven of Nine's human name
    Anya
    Emony
Ilia (Islia, Islea) - pronounced eye-lee-uh
    Kila (Keela) - prn kee-luh
    Lita (Leeta, Leta)
    Neela
Romy - Considered Romilly, to connect with Romulans from ST, but 3 syllables and could be nicknamed, so Romy it is
Sela (Seyla, Saela) - Would prefer the Seyla spelling, prn say-luh
Vada (Veda) - SW - Darth Vader connection

Thanks for your vote and let me know any reasoning you had behind it!

    Zefram Eli - Miles Thatcher

I like the names below from your poll. I also LOVE Romy but Maeby and Romy are too similar.

    Selah
    Veda (this spelling)
    Anya
    Lita
    Annika
    All the best,
    Mischa.

Thanks Mischa! Romy is a favorite of mine, and for some reason I don't mind it with Maeby! To my ears they don't seem that alike, other than being two syllables and ending in an -ee sound. I actually like that they both sound cute.

I voted for Romy, Annika, and Lita as my 3 faves--but I consider Lita to be a nickname/term of endearment (in fact it's my nickname, ala Emilita). I would go with Leda instead.
