    To me it has a very exotic sound. Until recently I didn't know it was a biblical name and would have guessed it was arabic.

    I think Jewish. Not that that is bad of course! Just the first thought I had, like when you hear of a woman named Ingrid you think Scandinavian.

    Ingrid is Scandinavian. And Malachi is Hebrew, which is why I think 'Jewish' first thing. Not that you can't use the name if you aren't Jewish!
