    Questions about Violet

    1. WDYT of Violet? Do you think it's trendy, like Harper, Willow or Winter? Or vintage? Or hipster?

    2. Does it bother you that Violet is one letter away from violent?

    3. What sibling names would go well with it?

    Thanks in advance!

I think Violet is a lovely name. Vintage names are in style right now, but somehow the fact that these names were once common and now are having a resurgence keeps them from feeling overly "trendy" to me. At least not in any negative way.

I didn't automatically come to the realization that Violet is a letter away from violent. I automatically think of the flowers and color, which starkly contrast with violent, so for me it's not something I would think about and so not be bothered by.

You could easily go with similar names.

    Girls:

    Hazel
    Lily
    Calla
    Scarlet
    Adelaide
    Ruby
    Rose
    Cora
    Laurel

    Boys

    August
    Teal
    Micah
    Quince
    Bodhi
    Oliver
    Jasper
    Emmett

Really, with this name the possibilities are endless in regards to siblings.

i think of Violet as a vintage/older name, myself.

i too think of the flower, so violent didn't even cross my mind til you typed it out.

For sisters, I'd probably keep in the color or flower family.
as for brothers, I'd probably lean towards nature names.

    good luck!

Ditto - violent/Violet didn't occur to me either.
Violet seems vintage to me - I know that it's quite popular, but it isn't in the same popularity/trendiness ballpark as Isabella/Ava etc., even though they're also vintage-ish names.
Because I think 'vintage' when I think Violet, I'd aim to give vintage names to siblings, too.
    Names like:
    Jasper
    Robert
    William
    Emmett
    Hugo
    Oliver
    Ernest

    and

    Daphne (vintage AND floral!)
    Emmeline
    Sylvia
    Jocelyn
    Edith
    Ruby
    Cora

all fit the bill for me.
I'm Claire, an Australian teenberry. I love names and kids, but I'm not going to become a mum for at least ten years. Until then, I'm just playing with possibilities.

    For girls, I love:
    Matilda - Iulia - Rosa - Annalise - Linnea - Eva

For boys, I love: Anders - Reuben - James - Jude - Caspar - Thomas

Guilty pleasures are: Blaise - Orion - Caspian --- Madelief - Isolde - Hero

    1. Yeah I do think Violet is a trendy name, but that still doesn't mean you're going to see it all over the place and I personally love the name Violet. Most of all I see Violet as a vintage name.

    2. No, it does not bother me that Violet one letter away from being violent. I don't think of that at all, I just think little purple flower and gorgeous name.

    3. Violet fits in with nature names, color names, place names, trendy names or classic names. Anything really... I would just think that if you wanted Violet's sibling names to match they would need to be sweet and gentle like Violet. However, I think a little mismatching is nice too, for example I think Violet and Conrad make a nice sibset and I don't imagine Conrad a sweet, gentle name.

    Violet's Siblings -

    Georgia
    Delilah
    Pearl
    Ruby
    Philipa
    Carolina
    Hazel

    Gus
    Conrad
    Desmond
    Reuben
    George
    Jasper
