Jamie as a FN alone for a boy?

I've got a huge name crush on Jamie for a boy right now. I do like James, but it's awfully popular. So I was wondering what everything thought about Jamie by itself on a boy?

Jamie is a little boy; James is timeless.

I don't think using Jamie would alleviate the popularity of the name problem, but I do think Jamie is a usable name on its own.

I think Jamey is more boy-ish since "ie" endings look very girly to me. I also love love love the nickname Jamey, but I'm not a fan of James so I have thought about this one for a long time! I can't see sticking a baby with Jamie or Jamey and it growing with him. A formal name for the adult world would be ideal IMO.
