I love Claudia WAY much more than Pamela. I think names that start with Cl sound so beautiful, and Claudia isn't over-used and dated.
Pamela on the other hand, seems dated, has the plain nn "Pam" and makes me think of Pamela Anderson.
Claudia wins by a land-slide, I don't care that it means Lame, because who is going to know that?

Claudia Pearl comes to mind, as does Claudia Violet.

Glad so many people like Claudia! I think I prefer her to Pamela too. But remember, with Pamela, I wouldn't use the nn Pam, I would use Mela or Mel.

Claudia is a beautiful name. It is on my list for middle names, however I am now a little heartbroken that it means lame.

I know, the meaning bothers me too! Lame is a bit insulting.
