Phoebe is not frilly at ALL. I don't do frilly...In fact I think it is spunky and although not unisex (So still girly) I find it quite tomboyish in a way-which was appealing to me... But it is a funny wee name. I think Mythology and others think old lady (Ha and you think friends) so it does evoke different reactions.
But here were some others on my list before my Phoebe...
    Heidi
    Lola
    Freya
    Cleo
    Faye
    Mela
    Indie
    Hattie
    Winnie
    Asha
    Thea
    Holly
    Millie
    Arden
    Elodie
I also liked Natalie/Natalia but hubby took it off the list
    current favorite names:

    Hugo/Zac/Eero/Reeve/Rafferty/Evander/Otto/Ralph/Otis/Rupert

    Hattie/Reeva/Matilda/Winnie/Priya/Lola/Indigo/Thea/Mela

I love Cleo SO SO much. Dh says it's a tv psychic. *eye roll*
We both liked Heidi for a while but feel it's a tad dated and cutesy. I do like Freya but think it's too similar sounding to Isla.
Most of the others are more cute or nicknamey than I like.

I don't think Elizabeth is too formal next to Isla and Grant, especially if you plan to use the nickname Lizzie. I think it's perfect. You both like it, it has the Elise sound without the flow problem, and it was your sister's middle name, who passed away this summer. In my opinion, Elizabeth is the way to go.
