Alternatives to India
What names would you suggest to someone who loves the name India but is uncomfortable with the possible negative connotations? (I'm not really looking for other Ind- names, just names that are similar stylistically or in sound.)Emily // Nineteen // American

Quite a mixed bag, they tend to just be old/well-known, and trendy names used by young middle-class parents (generally speaking, of course).
What about Saffron? It's such a guilty pleasure name of mine.olivia, seventeen, vegan film student / owner of fluffy black cat Shura!

I feel the same way about that name! My favorite alternative is Indira because it sounds very nearly the same, but it comes with its own very strong connotations. I'm not sure if you'll like these, but here are some other names I like. They're not all the same style, but I can imagine someone who likes India being drawn to any of these for different reasons:
Jade or Giada
Jessenia or Yesenia
