Exotic/ international names that will work in US

My husband decided during the Victoria's Secret fashion show last night that he likes the names Behati and Doutzen. Though I've explained my objection to saddling a daughter with a name associated with a sex symbol/ underwear model, I would like more suggestions for names that are very unusual here but that aren't SO out there that they seem like like they're trying too hard. Preferably nothing that sounds really similar to any super popular names. Thanks!

When you say "exoctic" I automatically think of names that are a little bit more along the lines of "out there." Here are some names that are unusual, with some international roots that might work.

    Celestia
    Carmelita
    Cerys
    Clementina
    Cylia
    Inaya
    Isolde
    Jezebel
    Kalila
    Kalindi
    Saskia
    Savita
    Sybil
    Toril
    Verena
    Veronique
    Vita
    Zandra

Another way you could get that exotic sound is with Roman names such as
    Aeliana
    Augusta
    Aurelia
    Cassia
    Decima
    Drusilla
    Flavia
    Sabina
    Tulia

And if you are really looking for that exotic sound
    Abena
    Amadi
    Ebele
    Kamali
    Neela
    Nuru
    Nyala
    Panya
    Salana
    Subira
    Taraja

    Hope this helps!

If he likes Doutzen, maybe he'll like Tenzin? It's the Dalai Lama's first name, and is given to both boys and girls in Tibet in his honor.

Instead of Behati, maybe Beata? It feels very continental European to me, but I know a girl in the U.S. with this name and I think it seems pretty easy to wear.

    Delphi
    Eleni
    Tesni
    Vashti
    Tulsi
    Mahala
    Sunniva
    Thessaly
    Galilee / Galilea / Gala
    Tamzin
    Lieschen
    Nolwenn
    Ayelet
    Fairuza

    Bronwen
Catia (KAH-tee-uh, Portuguese variation of Katherine; it's apparently not on Nameberry)
Hecate (HEK-uh-tee, also not on Nameberry; Greek goddess of magic)
    Heloise
    Lilias
    Lovisa
    Martine
    Melita
    Priya

I also second Eleni, Isolde, Paloma, Sunniva and Tenzin (although I like Tenzin better on a boy, it's cute for a girl, too).

    Good luck.
