    Beautiful Welsh Names

I keep hoping to find out that I am part Welsh, but seem instead to be mostly English and Scottish on my father's side.

I love the following Welsh names (corrections and additions welcome). They seem particularly melodic and strong (despite the fact that my Spell-Check says they are all wrong!)

    Gladys
    Iola
    Morwenna
    Nesta
    Alwen
    Carys
    Iona
    Gwenda
    Liliwen
    Enid
    Angharad
    Gwendolyn
    Elinor
    Lewella/Llewella
    Winifred
    Ceri/Cerian
    Glenda/Glenys/Glynis
    Dilys
    Eiluned/Eluned/Luned
    Callwen
    Mair
    Olwen/Olwenna

Which do you like or dislike and why?

I like Welsh names. My son's name is Owen, which is Welsh but obviously very Americanized/mainstream. So I'm thinking I can get away with something also Welsh but a bit more adventurous if he has a sister.

From your list, I like Enid, Eluned, Winifred, Iona, Iola, Carys, Nesta, Elinor, Gwendolen and Gwen. I find these more useable. I love Gwen and wish I could use it, but it would probably be strange to have Owen and Gwen. Iona and Enid are the two that are on my list.

    Oh, and Eira!

is my son's name too (unborn). I must have loved Welsh names my whole life and not even known where they came from.

Enid and Iona are both wonderful. Very strong names, they make many other names look fluttery and irrelevant.
