Funny and Sad (yet true!) story about Stephen...

Just a little bit of comic relief...and to point out some of the ridiculousness that happens around here.

My husband's name is Stephen. About a year or so ago, he was ordering dinner for delivery from a sub shop. When the guy asked for his name, he said "Stephen, with a p-h" as he always does.

When our food arrived, the receipt was stuck to the bag with a large, bold, hand-written "Phsteven".

    We just about died laughing.

(Even common names have trouble, I guess!)

Yes, quite. One of the hardest laughs I've had, not a memory I could nor would confuse.

Seeing that, I think one of two things, either:
    A) We have bigger education issues than I initially thought, or
    B) The people at the sub shop saw that picture and were trying to be funny.

Either way, it was a pretty great moment that I tease about often. We even included the receipt in our album.

I always thaught Stephan was pronounced witga short E (stEHfan) Steven with the long E and Stefan (StefON). I have had similar issues with telling people "Sarah with an 'h'" ive seen people spell it Sahra -_- and once even Sahara (like the desert) so yes, even common names have trouble haha

It's StephEn though, not StephAn. Though it's my dad's name and I remember asking once when I was younger why it wasn't pronounced like Stefan (which I would pronounce the way you say Stephan).
