    I like Phoebe and the character doesn't bother me. I like the bird meaning and the mythology connection. The perky -ee sound ending is nice too, gives it a sunny feel. It has a light, lilting feel, but isn't too modern.

    I also like:
    Zoe & Chloe, but both are extremely popular.
    Wren, which I think of when I think of Phoebe because phoebes are a small songbird.
    Xanthe, Ianthe, Ione - some of my favourite Greek names that aren't as popular as Zoe and Chloe. I also like Ariadne & Penelope but they're a bit long compared to Phoebe.
    Zara, Alice, Ivy, Hannah - Two syllables names that have history but don't sound clunky or weighty. These are all pretty cheery feeling to me, and a bit zippy, but none of them are "made up."
    Naomi - Gentle and Biblical but with a perky -ee ending and never out of the US Top Thousand, so relatively timeless.
