    I love Frederick!

And Darcy is not bad, but is sounds too girlish.

For my money, it's between Frederick and Darcy. William is a gorgeous name, but it's overdone. Way too popular here. Although William Darcy is a gorgeous combination, it's almost the name of the main character from Pride & Prejudice - Fitzwilliam Darcy. Anyway...

I'm a huge fan of Frederick and I think it'd work really well in Australia. Freddie is an adorable nickname. I prefer Frederick Darcy over Frederick Luke. If you go with Darcy, I'd choose a different middle name. I just don't think Darcy Luke has much pizazz.

I love Frederick Darcy! I don't think Freddo is an issue. However, Frederick fits best with Matilda with that vintage feel. Darcy is a bit unisex, and feels very Austen on a boy. William is great, but quite common...

    My thoughts as an Aussie:

Princess Mary's fairy tale romance with Prince Frederik makes Frederick familiar despite its rare use. It's a great choice.

There is no doubt that as a teen he will be called Freddo by other students- but I think that's pretty cool, actually. It will just be a natural nickname.
