Thread: 4 Names I'm In Love With
November 15th, 2013 11:18 AM #16
Oh my goodness this is the greatest thread I have ever seen! I love Harry Potter names. At least one HP reference per combo is a personal naming rule of mine. =]
Rowena Lily would be my first choice from these four. Rowena is a gorgeous and uncommon yet still recognizable name and I think any little girl would be thrilled to have it. She has been recently added to my own first name list so it's fresh in my mind. I'd call mine Row and Rosie when she was young. Winnie was also suggested to me and I love that. Roly could be cute if you combine her first and middle names.
Hermione Fleur- It seems that you really love Hermione and of course all of these are great female characters, but Hermione is unarguably the epitome of a smart, kind, and amazing heroine. The balance and flow of these two names is great, Fleur sounds very nice in the middle. This would be my second favorite.
Ginevra Fleur- Because right after Hermione, Ginny is the second most notably awesome of the four characters. If I ever meet a little Ginevra I would be elated, it is such a gorgeous name. She loses just a few points because if she regularly goes by Ginny, that will be familiar to everyone and they may assume her name is Jennifer (not really a problem, I just know if it were me that would bother me).
Lily Rowena- I think this gives off the least HP feel which is a negative in my book. Lily is easily the most popular of all your first name choices and doesn't seem as meaningful for that reason, though it's still a lovely name. I also like the flow of Rowena Lily a bit better, and think Lily actually shines more as a middle.
I hope all of that made sense, because I really do love every single name there and you absolutely can't go wrong. No matter which one you choose, your daughter will have a gorgeous, meaningful name. Good luck!! =]

Some gorgeous names!
My two favorite choices for you are:
1. Hermione Fleur - I love the sound of it, and I would absolutely want to meet a little Hermione. Hermione is my favorite female character from HP. And I agree that it embodies intelligence, bravery, loyalty, and strength.
2. Rowena Lily - It flows very nicely and I think the name Rowena is just beautiful.
Good luck in picking a final name!

Thankyou all so much I agree with the fact that Lily goes better as a middle name, and the fact that it's so popular does put me off it slightly. I honestly didn't think there were that many potterhead mums around and I'm so happy (and slightly relieved) that I've found some. Pernillemarie, I'm a Ravenclaw too, so the Rowena is swaying me a bit, and I love the nickname Rowe - it's adorable! I love the way it goes with Lily and what both names together represent. However I love Hermione Fleur too, and Hermione is my favourite character. Ginevra is something quite quirky and different to me, and I think that's one of the reasons I love it. I love the nickname Ginny too, however I do worry about the possibility of a nickname of Gin, and I'm not too keen on that if I'm honest. My husband's favourite is Ginevra Fleur, but I'm not entirely convinced, because quite frankly - I'm madly in love with all of the names.
The problem is, if I name Little One one of the names, I'll stay in love with the other names until I have another.
Are two HP names too much? I probably wouldn't have a Hermione and Ginevra because i think that's too obvious that they have a potterhead mother, but I honestly don't think I could fall in love with any other names like I have with these. I'm officially hopeless
