    Names that Relate to Space/Stars/Planets

I really like names that relate somehow to space, yet aren't too "out there" (pun intended?). I like Io and Dione, but I want to stay away from names that are directly after planets/stars but still evoke the imagery. I would consider names of moons, but my husband is not a fan of Greek goddess names, and those seem to go hand-in-hand. I also would rather stay away from Astrid and Estella/Stella.

    Any suggestions?

I love names with the star/moon/night imagery, here are some that give me that feeling/have that meaning:
    Luna (obviously)
    Twyla/Twila- Twilight, Star
    Este- Star (pro. like es-stay)
Stelara- Like a Constellation (which is also a name of a medication, BTW, if that bothers you)
    Ayla- Moonlight
    Aylin- Moon Halo
    Kalindi- Sun
    Sulwen- white sun
    Vesper- evening
Vespera- Morning Star or of the Evening
    Zora- Aurora, dawn
    Csilla- (CHEE-la) Star (Hungarian)
I wanted to suggest Eos (Dawn), Hespera (Evening), or Nyx (night) but they're Greek Myth names (same with Selene or Selena). Any Helen related names (including the more unknown ones like Illia or Iliana or Elina) could be related to Selene, meaning moon. Hope that helps.

Hi! Hmm. A lot of space names do suggest Greek godesses, but there are some: I've included that don't:

    Constellation names:
    Ursula (after Ursa Major/Minor)
    Maia

    Moons:
Phoebe after Phobos - a moon of Mars
Alma after Amalthea - a moon of Jupiter
Carme - a moon of Jupiter, or Carmen
Leda - a Jupiter moon but with a fairly unfortunate story
Dione - a moon of Saturn. Could become Diana
Pandora - a moon of Saturn
Helene - a moon of Saturn - also Helena
Larissa - a moon of Neptune

Uranus's moons are named after Shakespearian heroines, so this way you can avoid Greek goddess names but still have a space related name:

    Cordelia (King Lear)
    Ophelia (Hamlet - although tragic)
    Bianca (Taming of the Shrew)
Cressida (Troilus and Cressida - although Cressida betrays her lover in this very dark play)
    Desdemona (Othello - tragic)
    Juliet (R+J)
    Portia (Merchant of Venice)
    Rosalind (As You Like It)
    Miranda (The Tempest)
    Ariel (The Tempest)
    Titania (Midsummer's Night)
another of Uranus's moons is named Belinda, from Alexander Pope's 'The Rape of the Lock'.

Another option could be Satellite names:
    Ariane
    Freja/Freya
    Clementine
    Ruby
    Topaz
    Rosetta
    Dove
    Dawn
    Alexis
    Elisa

Aurora is another name that came to mind.
