Exclamation Hi, this is Luke...NOT Lucas!

I'm pondering the name Luke for a boy, but I don't want people to automatically assume that he's a Lucas. I despise Lucas with a passion, but I really am starting to like Luke. I usually don't have a problem with nicknamey names, but I'm really worried about this one. Do you think people will automatically assume he's a Lucas? If so, do you have any alternatives to Luke? Thanks

You might get some people who assume Lucas is his full name, but if you are introducing him as Luke, I would think those instances would be rare.

For me Luke, will be Luke and not Lucas. So I think it's totally usable on it's own. I've never met a Lucas who goes by Luke.

Yes i agree with this. Luke is Luke and Lucas is Lucas. I have never met a Lucas thats nick named Luke, and vise-versa.

Luke is not a nickname. It's a full name in its own right. I don't know why anyone would assume that a boy/man introduced as Luke is actually a Lucas?
