I'm not the biggest fan. Most of the ones I like are ones that I kind of forget are place names. It's troubling because some of the most popular ones are not the pleasantest of places: Camden isn't the best choice if you live near NJ, for example! Bronx? Place names that sound "exotic" or "tough" or "glamorous" to one might have different associations to people who have actually lived in or near those areas.
I have considered using my hometown as a middle if I ever have a boy. It would be meaningful for me, and it's an unusual choice. I think a lot of people use place-names they don't have much actual connection to, cause you wouldn't want to use the name of the actual place the child will be growing up. But I think the personal connection makes it special, and the parents will know for sure it's a worthy choice!
