I thought we might have a little topic devoted to music. What are your favorite songs at the moment? Bands? Artists? Genre?
Perhaps get some recommendations too.
I'll start then:
The songs I generally listen to all seem to fit in the alternative genre. I do listen to songs from other genres, although I'm not a particular fan of metal and rap.
Favorite songs at the moment:
Gang of Rhythm by Walk Off The Earth
Pompeii by Bastille
Wetsuit by The Vaccines
Shooting Stars & Fairy Tales by Mrs.Greenbird
Elle me dit by MIKA
Boy & Bear
Of Monsters and Men
77 Bombay Street
And a song to listen to, the music video is awesome.

Ooooh, dangerous business starting a music thread... for me that is. I could talk music all day long.
I think my general taste is alternative rock and singer-songwriters. I also love hip hop, opera, heavy metal, classic and some folksy country stuff. And pop if it's very good.

Tori Amos (all time favourite!)
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
At the moment I love these:
Emilie Autumn - especially Rapunzel, Juliet, Remember, Shalott, I Want My Innocence Back and I Will Swallow (because Roo loves them)
Vienna Teng - the whole "Aims" album, especially Copenhagen and Level Up (it was release this week!!)
Tori Amos - Ribbons Undone, Liquid Diamonds, Lust, Pandora's Aquarium, 1000 Oceans, Merman, Pretty Good Year, Twinkle (well, I always listen a lot to Tori, her albums are never far from the record player, at the moment we love The Beekeeper, Choirgirl, Venus, Pink and Pele very much)
Rufus Wainwirght - the Poses album, especially Greek Song and Rebel Prince
Bat for Lashes - The Haunted Man, Lilies and Marilyn in particular
Goldfrapp - Happiness, Roo likes to dance to this one
Neverending White Lights - the Love Will Ruin album
Emiliana Torrini - Big Jumps, again, Roo likes to dance to this one
Kate Bush - the Aerial, a Sky of Honey album
Fiona Apple - Get Gone and I Know, but I love the whole When the Pawn... album
Greg Laswell - the Landline album, Nicely Played, Come back Down and Dragging You Around are big hits with little miss A
I hardly ever put on just one song though, I'm a play a record from start to finish kind of girl. But sometimes I'll put on just one on my iPod, and then it's for Roo because she gets super excited about some of these songs.

Yey for a music thread! I'm the same as sunshine kid- I like everything other than metal and rap. I especially like classical music and film soundtracks and I find that I'm liking songs in the charts in the charts less and less these days. It all kind of sounds the same :/
Current favourite songs:
Closest I Get - Katie Herzig (cheers, ITV, for showing me this!)
Ma Vlast, Vltava - Bedrich Smetana
Blurred Lines - Robin Thicke (bit of a GP. I just like bopping around to it )
Arrival of the Birds - The Cinematic Orchestra
Mumford & Sons
I think I'm going to be spending a lot of this evening on YouTube

Wow this is so exciting! Great idea for a thread! I can't wait to look up all these new artists
Music pretty much goes where my blood should be, so I have A LOT of favorites. My pet genre is goth rock, but I love everything from Celtic to metal.
Apocalyptica – hard rock + cellos. Nuff said.
Ashes of Eve – I think they've disbanded sadly I only have three of their songs, but they're breathtaking
the Bastion soundtrack – soundtrack or not, this is some of my favorite music of all time! I don't even know how to describe the style because it's so unlike anything else. The person who made the music calls it "wild west meets trip-hop" so we'll add a dash of Asian fusion and a post-apocalyptic twist and go with that.
Blackmore's Night – amazing fairytale music with an edge…The Storm, Loreley, and Play Minstrel Play are my top three songs.
Delta Goodrem – Electric Storm
Ego Likeness – Ultra-spooky and slightly mad. I'm currently addicted to Burn Witch Burn, which sounds awful, but it's actually really kickass – a witch on trial is mocking her accusers and the list of crimes they have against her (learning how to read, refusing to marry, etc.)
Emilie Autumn – Juliet, Shallott, Castle Down, and Opheliac are my faves at the moment
Evanescence– my first love and favorite band of all time. Currently hooked on My Heart is Broken and Made of Stone (the Renholder mix)
Falling Up – Searchlights (Indoor Soccer) is their best
Fallout Boy – I'm digging their new album. The Phoenix and My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark are both seriously epic!
Florence + the Machine
Flyleaf – I'm So Sick is probably one of the most kickass songs ever…such an epic growly scream from such a tiny girl!
The Green Children – a more recent love. Dragons is AMAZING!
Halestorm – a guilty pleasure
Josh Groban – he's just amazing
La Roux – Bulletproof and Tigerlily
Lady Gaga - I have this love-hate relationship with Gaga. As we'd say in the South, "Well, ain't you a cute little lollipop triple-dipped in psycho?" But I respect the way she subverts her whole life to the pursuit of her art, and that art permeates everything – music, dance, video/story, fashion…plus her songs are just so damn catchy! Haha.
Loreena McKennitt – One of my faves growing up…I have like ¾ of her CDs
Milk, Inc. – love their song Walk on Water
Moya Brennan – Two Horizons is my favorite album
Muse – swooooon…who doesn't love Muse?? Currently addicted to Undisclosed Desires, Uprising (I think it's called), and revisiting my mad love for Supermassive Black Hole
Nickelback – don't judge! I truly love their music.
Nightwish – second favorite band ever. Amaranth is my all-time favorite of their songs, but I also love Nemo, The Poet and the Pendulum, Wish I Had an Angel (although the Nightcore version of this is somehow even more awesome), Bye Bye Beautiful, Wishmaster….gosh there's so many! I could go on forever.
Owl City – basically everything. I'm in love with Owl City, the lyrics are incredible and the songs never fail to lift my spirits. This music is the perfect cure for sadness. Current faves are Alligator Sky, Kamikaze, Shy Violet, and Meteor Shower. Also love The Real World ("reality is a lovely place, but I wouldn't wanna live there") and Plant Life ("I'd rather waltz than just walk through the forest")….and I'd better stop before I list ALL THE SONGS!!
PelleK – Northern Wayfarer. Amazing. And I love how he sings a new song every day for his Youtube fans – great guy who can sing his butt off with a ridiculously awesome four-octave range.
Sarah Brightman – hit or miss for me, but songs like Fleur du Mal make me love her
Scooter – first techno
Shiny Toy Guns – Le Disko kicks. butt.
Sixx A.M. – Life is Beautiful…this song never fails to make me shiver
Skillet – Rebirthing is their best album, by far. Comatose and Whispers in the Dark are some of the most emotionally powerful songs ever. WitD is so darkly beautiful – "my love is waiting to clothe you in crimson roses." – swoon!
The Rasmus – In the Shadows is my fave…it's the first Kingdom Hearts intro so naturally I'm biased.
Thousand Foot Krutch
Three Doors Down
TobyMac - If you're a Narnia fan, listen to New World. Full body goosebumps every time!
Unsun - Whispers is a great song
Within Temptation – Third favorite band of all time. What Have You Done, Angels, The Howling, Faster, Sinead…I could go on and on.
And this is only the stuff I can remember off the top of my head, without even looking at all the music on my home computer @_@Zion Nathaniel ~ Solomon Fable ~ Balthazar Wolf ~ Malachi Sparrow nn Kai ~ Tobias Rowan ~ Ender _____ ~ Caspian _____
Alice Willow ~ Ophelia Fawn or Ophelia Wren ~ Lucia Pearl ~ Eve Wisteria nn Evie ~ and second-guessing River Selene
Cirina Wryn, Narnia Rose, Luna Seraphine, Parthenia Nyx, Astoria, Illyria, Gwyneira, Farasha, Serafina, Senara, Soraya, Faerydae
Orion Melchior North, Tobias Loki, Edmund, Frost, Oberon, Hawthorne, Kenshin, Bastion, Remiel, Atreyu
