I know quite a few but I live in Los Angeles and it's quite a bit popular among the Jewish community.

A handful from of all ages from baby to ultra-ancient, plus relatives who are dead now, but I'm an East Coast Jew, so yeah.

All the middle-aged or older ones I know of are Jewish.

I want to say that while it's well-known, it's less extremely popular currently amongst Jews than Ari/Avi? Does that sound right to anybody else?

I've never met an Asher and I'm happy about that. I think it's an odd name. Just makes me think of cremation (horrible thought).

    I know an Ashton though.

Love Asher! I used to go to school with an Ashton, in middle school, and I remember coming across a baby Asher with his mom at the lady doctor, but that was probably close to three years ago, if not more like 5. I hear that it's frequently used, but I haven't heard it that often at all. Then again, I'm on the opposite side of the country from you...
