    "Hound" names

Not names for hounds: names that remind you of hounds, wolves, dogs baying at a hunt. It's pretty rare that I'll use imagery and not just a color to describe a name, but there are a few names I love because they remind me of the sound of a pack of hounds baying, all for boys.

    Calhoun
Howell - pronounced HOW-uhl, only slightly different than the actual word Howl (two syll's instead of one)
Ulric - "wolf power", a diminutive of Wulfric
    Wolfram - obviously
    Wolfgang - also obviously
Bayard - I pronounce this BAY-yard and love it with NN Bay, but the NB pronunciation is listed as BYE-yard... what would be your first instinct? (Poll at top)

WDYT? Any names that you would add to a "hound-y" name list?

My instinct says Bayard, especially since it's of English origin.

As for hound imagery, I have to toss in my top boy name: Lowell. I'm a lifelong dog lover, so I adore the meaning as well as the howl-like sound the name creates when it falls off my tongue.

I also thought it was BAY-yard.

I'm so happy to see Wolfram on someone's list! You might also like Valko, Conri, and Zev. Great list!
