I prefer the more straight-forward Vera. I would pronounce Viera rhyming with Sierra, but with a shorter "ee" sound, if that makes sense.

The Nameberry entry says it's a Russian and Czech version of Vera, but all the Russians I know with this name are just called Vera, though the pronunciation is a little like Vyera.

    If its Viera....

I like it. Vee-eh-rah. Reminds me a little of Meredith Viera but it works.

I also think of meredith Viera (vee-eh-rah) so I get an old lady vibe from the name

That's who I think of, too. Because of her, I don't see it as a first or middle name, just a surname.

Viera is accurate in sound but not in spelling. According to Behind the Name, the spelling would still be translated into Vera.
