I prefer the more straight-forward Vera. I would pronounce Viera rhyming with Sierra, but with a shorter "ee" sound, if that makes sense.
The Nameberry entry says it's a Russian and Czech version of Vera, but all the Russians I know with this name are just called Vera, though the pronunciation is a little like Vyera.Estella ~ Helena ~ Miriam ~ Beatrice ~ Anastasia ~ Ruby ~ Ivy ~ MarillaPaul ~ Wesley ~ Walter ~ Martin ~ Edmund ~ Fraser ~ Alexander

I also think of meredith Viera (vee-eh-rah) so I get an old lady vibe from the nameI like distinct, memorable, exotic and preferably non-popular names. The kids with unique names wore them so well when I was younger and never got lost in the crowd.
