Thread: How important are initials?
September 20th, 2013 06:50 PM #11
I don't think initials that spell a word are an issue, but like the above, I'd avoid ASS, FCK, PMS, etc. I've had university and workplace email addresses that used initials, so everyone was aware if your initials were ASS, etc. My brother's initials are NFL, which he loves.Miriam ~ Helena ~ Estella ~ Beatrice ~ Anastasia ~ Alice ~ Marilla ~ SarahPaul ~ Wesley ~ Walter ~ Edmund ~ Isaac ~ Abram ~ Gabriel

I actually think it's neat when initials spell something nice.
If I could find names I love and also have the initials be something cool, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
My SIL actually named both of her kids so that their initials spell out their nickname:
Nicole Yvette Carson - NYC - (not her actual name, but right initals)
Zachary Adam Carson - ZAC (again, not his actual name)
I think that's really neat.
My married initials spell KEO, which is sort of fun--not a real word but pronouncable and kinda cute.
HAD is a cute initial set--you could her Haddie as a nnOlivia/Livia/Livy/Liv : Thessaly/Darah/Bethel : Noelle/Eve
Benedict/Eli: Jude/Zane: Luke/Darius : Levi/Phineas/Calvin

I think common words are okay. But stay away from STD, VAG, ASS, etc. My initials are ARK. And honestly, my initials are never on anything. and if they are, it's usually a monogram in which case, they appear AKR. So your HAD would most likely be seen as HDA, if you're the type who loves monograms as I do. I love the name- go for it! I wouldn't worry about it. HAD is not bad like PMS or MAD or something. Keep in mind, if your daughter gets married, most of the time they take their partner's last name and use their maiden name as the middle. Plus, not many people ask about your initials anyway. Don't sweat it, Hazel Amelia is lovely.Just another teenberry and writer, a lover of names
