Thread: Updating Donna

How about using Donnelly instead? It's a bit of a stretch, but you could look at it as meaning "descendant of Donna" (which is pretty close to the Irish meaning I think, except its for a male descendant).

Beatrice Donnelly would be pretty nice.

I actually looked at Donnelly, Donegal, and Donaghue as middle names for boys. Donelly could definitely work as a fresh honoring name in the middle.

    Thank you!

Your suggestions are lovely. I adore Penelope but Ive ruled it out (for me) as too pop.
Elspeth and Iris are my favourites, but Im not sure any of them work that well with Donna.
Donna is quite hard to work with....maybe because your fn choices are vintage and Donna is recent retro....brainstorming...
    Camelia Donna
    Rosalie Donna
    Leonore Donna
    Marisol Donna
    Gwendoline Donna
    Meredith Donna
My intention wasn't to go solely for a vintage name. They just happened to sound pleasant to me.

I really like your suggestions, particularly Camelia (or Camellia) Donna.

    Thank you!

Iris Donna and Elspeth Donna are my favourites from your current list - they add a little playfulness. My first choice would probably be something like Persephone Donna or Hermione Donna.

    Other suggestions:
    Amabel Donna
    Annabel Donna
Beatrix Donna (I really like Beatrice Donna but the x is more lively)
    Bryony Donna
    Cecily Donna
    Daphne Donna
    Elodie Donna
    Evanthe Donna
    Genevieve Donna
    Jessamine Donna
    Madeleine Donna
    Ophelia Donna
    Phoebe Donna
    Rosaline Donna
    Xanthe Donna
Donna's really not the easiest name, is it?

I love Hermione! Hermione Donna is nice and definitely one I'll have to stow away for later considerations.

I really like these suggestions as well:
    Annabel Donna
Beatrix Donna - I actually removed this and put Beatrice in it's place thinking it had better flow. But it's more lovely for sure.
Daphne Donna - I love the alliteration here, it's rather whimsical.
Evanthe Donna - This is unexpected. That's a good thing in my book.
Phoebe Donna - Cute! I love it.

    Thank you!

If Donna isn't working for you, you could always try Dawn as a middle, which has a similar sound. Or other names with the same meaning as Donna, like Martha or Freja/Freya
I hope to be a mom one day. For now I enjoy being a name lover.

My apologies for any typos; i post from my mobile phone.
