    Mixy Matchy, Findy Shary

So... I never make threads. Generally, this is because I tend to have a favourite name and stick with it for years and years without ever changing my mind. Up until a few years ago my favourite girl's name was Holly and I'd liked that since I was eleven. Aira now sits comfortably at the top of the pile and I don't see her shifting any time soon. Now, having a favourite-name-of-all-time can be a great thing:

"I know exactly what I'd name a daughter if one appeared in my room right now, yippee!"

...but it can also be pretty boring.

"I know exactly what I'd name a daughter if one appeared in my room right now, how dull..."

I think this is the problem I'd like some help with. I don't like loving just one or two names with the passion of a steam train anorak; there is room in my heart for so many more if only I could find them! Below you will find a list of names I like enough to be first names, family names for middles and a list of other names I like. Your mission, should you choose to accept it is to help make up some fun combinations and maybe share some new names you think I might like to consider liking too! Beyond that, feel free to go wild! Comment on names with joyous abandon if you want to, but I know there are a lot so it's not totally necessary.

I have simple tastes (read 'am exceptionally picky') and my criteria runs thusly. The name must be: a legitimate name, spelt correctly, not a surname* and not a word/place name. I'm open to names from any culture and tend to like the unusual and old fashioned.

Just the girlys for now. Might do the boys in a day or two.

Cheers guys! On with the show!

This is going to be fun

My favorites from your girl names
Aira - It's fun, spunky, short and sweet
Ariella - A long time favorite of mine but not sure if I would actually use this name, so my vote goes to...
Arietta - A fun, spunky name with a bit of a vintage flair as it has the -etta attached to it.
Elodie - it is a very cute name
Clover- I really like this name, you will see the word spunky alot in my comments as I use that word to describe a cool name that isn't very common
Saoirse - I like the Irish charm behind this name, but sadly I could never remember the pronunciation as I have never met one in real life

From the other list i like
Adelaide - a little too trendy for me though
Charlotte - Loved since I read Charlotte's Web as a child
    Erin
    Holly
    Iris
    Georgia
lilah - though I prefer Delilah (yes I know about the biblical connotation)
Linnea - A Swedish gem. Namberry sayss Lee-naeah but both the born and bred Swedish women i know pronounce the name Lynn-aeah
    Scarlett
    Seraphina
    Valentine

    Combos
    Aira Rose Holly
    Clover Elizabeth Valentine
    Elodie Rose Midori
    Saoirse Rose Margot

I'm bad with name combo flow but these are the name I like.

Aira Rose (eye-ra)- So gorgeous! I don't know why you'd look further. BUT....

Merit is actually a favorite of mine, and one of the few virtue names I like. Constance is pretty great too.

    Other First Names:

Bridie- I love, but always heard it as a nickname.
    Clover- cute
Esther- beautiful. More serious in vibe than Aira, but I feel like you could find a nickname for it along the same lines as Aira
    Sylvia- beautiful

From this list I thought of Sidonie & Marietta as suggestions

    Family Names:

Annie- I adore Annie, but only as a nickname from Anne, Anna or a longer form. Annette is charming.
    Rose- Very pretty
Eilidh (to honour Eileen)- Not familiar feeling for me.
    Elizabeth-Emily- pretty

    Names I Like:

    Adelaide
    Adeline- perhaps Adele? Adair?
Annabel- great way to get to Annie
    Cecily
    Charlotte
    Chiara
    Clara
Erin- I would love to meet a baby Erin! I love this name, but haven't met a little one EVER
    Holly
    Iris- Beautiful. Evocative of Aira.
    Emmeline (em-eh-leen)
    Elinor
    Elora
Fiera (not sure if this is real, if it’s not it can be crossed off)
    Fiorella
    Florianne
    Georgia
    Gisella
    Lenora
    Lotte
    Liesel
    Lilah
Linnea- I adore Linnea. Aira Linnea is really pretty, but maybe Aira needs a more solid feeling middle? Merit Linnea?
    Lyra
    Margot- I love it!
    Midori
    Morrigan
    Nerys
    Ngaere (pronounced neye-ree)
    Romilly
    Scarlett
    Seren
    Seraphina
    Sorrel
    Sapphira
    Sayuri
    Siri
    Sylvan
    Valentine

    Ooh yay comments! Thanks guys!

Giinkies: I really like Saoirse Rose Margot. There's a nice flow going on there and lots of different letters. regarding Linnea, I'm torn over how to pronounce it because so many sources say different ways are correct. I like both 'lin-ee-a' and 'lin-AY-a' though so at least that's something

Taz: I know, Aira Rose will always be my perfect name But it'd be fun to have lots and lots of others I loved too. Marietta is lovely, I like the though of using Marry is a nickname. It encorparates all the sounds I like too. Sidonie... I feel like I should like it because it evokes a feeling of Sigrid and Ingrid but I think the 'don' bit in the middle puts me off slightly. I love Adair too but with that one I was concerned it might fall into my 'surname/place name' embargo zone. I'd have to do more research.

    ...

I'm also chuffed you both like Aira For some reason I didn't think it'd go down well here.

[EDIT] Lol, Nameberry just told me off for using too many smilies.
