I agree with everyone on the "H" issue. Alaska is already a name, so it already has a spelling. Imagine naming your kid Hawaiie, just because it's "different"
Which brings me to my (rather harsh) point: I don't understand state names. I saw that little Alaska on that American TV show Toddlers & Tiaras, and it struck me as quite trashy, like a stripper name on a little girl.
You'd never see a Canadian kid named Ontario or Manitoba(h). Specific cities are often called after people, so they make the jump a little more smoothly. To me, I would just roll my eyes to meet a little Florida, Texas or Delaware. I have difficulty seeing how Dakota, Arizona or yes, Alaska, are any less odd.Latest list:
