    I actually LOVE Avalon. I even did a thread on it.
    I asked for nickname suggestion and this is what was suggested:

    Ava - just like you said in case she likes popular names
    Loni - which is uncommon and a tomboyish nickname
    Von - again a tomboyish nickname
    Vana - a sweet sexy nickname

    the lovely dantea came up with Von and Vana, whilst I only thought of Loni and Ava

    I like Avalon. Also, I've always loved Avonlea since reading Anne of Green Gables as a kid.

    I'm not a fan. Also, if your last name is Stark and you would like to shorten the name to Aria anyway, giving her a full name doesn't really serve any purpose.
