I love Marion/Marian! With all the frillyana names out there right now, meeting a young Marion would be so refreshing!
    Current loves:
    Opal | Saffron
    Winslow | Hopper

We used Rosemary for our daughter's mn.

Variations of Mary from my mom's family: Mae, May, Marie, Rosemary, Marilyn, & Mary Jane (no lie!)

I also love all the Marin, Marnia, Marnie variations that are sort of a nod to Mary without being 'same-old'.

    Hmm...
I love Mary and I think she would be really refreshing as a stand alone name in the first name slot.

But still here are some variants of Mary that I like:
    Marina
    Maire
    Mariana
    Mariella
    Mara
    Marie
    Marion
    Miriam
    Rosemary

I'm not really a fan of compound names but here are some suggestions
    Mary Kate
    Mary Katherine
    Mary Elizabeth
    Mary Anne
    Mary Jane
    Mary Beth

Maudlin is technically from Matilda but Maud & Mary have a similar feel to me, plus i think Maudlin is too lovely not to consider

also like Rosemarie to spice up the well known Rosemary
The best known and most obvious meaning of Maudlin is just dreadful, very unpleasant to bestow upon a child. Other's thoughts?
