Thread: Wanted: UK 80's names
September 8th, 2013 11:02 PM #6
Unfortunately, I am of no use when it comes to information about names in the 80's UK but I did do a short piece that required a name for a woman Chinese descent.
"luxuriant and beautiful, fragrant flower" or "dancing through air"
"beautiful" or "plum"
"rose" or "precious"
"cultured, literacy/literary, ornamental"
"early morning, dawn"
Please, note that I'm American with no Asian heritage so I am in no way an expert. These were just what I found through a bunch of internet searches and looking through some books on Chinese history but the sites seemed reputable. I included meanings in case that is important to you; the ones with two meanings have two Chinese characters that can be used.
Good luck!* A Nameberry Nightmare*
Mr. Fry: So, what should we name him?
Mrs. Fry: Uh, you pick. I picked dinner last night.
Mr. Fry: Well, I was thinking of Philip. After those screwdrivers?
Mrs. Fry: That's a great idea! More morphine, please.

You've both been very helpful-I'd still like some more suggestions though. So bumping this up.
