I love Lyle Alexander! Carlisle is alright, but only that spelling.

Usually I like longer names with a shorter nickname but Lyle Alexander is such a great name that I say stick with the short option.

There's a Carlisle in Twilight? How many names has that book taken? (Tainted?)

I still think Carlisle Alexander nn Lyle is wonderful. Though, both Carlisle and Lyle are great with Alexander so you can't really go wrong.

I prefer Lyle to Carlyle/Carlisle. But that's just me. Lyle Alexander is a nice combo.

Carlisle Alexander is nice! Though some people may say (car-leesl), but I wouldn't worry about that if you'll be calling him Lyle : ) I always like full names better because that way you can give them another NN if the intended one doesn't "take". From Carlisle you can get both Carl and Lyle. I love backup : )
