Obscure Word Names
I love words and I've decided that I love word names too. Not for my own baby, but I'll use them in a book. In my futuristic book, I think most everyone will have a word name. Words are beautiful. They can convey a wish we have for our child (or character) like Honor, Patience, etc or something that conjures up beauty to us like Willow, Poem, Symphony.
So I decided to compose a list of words I think would make good names (even if it's just for my story). Feel free to contribute and I'd like opinions if you have them. I'm not assigning gender because they're words, but I have my preferences.
Mist (which is also a mythology name)
Saga (another myth name)
Winsome -- I actually know a man named Winsome. He introduces himself like "It's Winsome like the word. You know, charming?" *big smile*
Darling -- sounds like Darlene
Whimsy -- I know one of these too. Her brothers are Sage, Noble, and Loyal. It's all too much together for me
Atlas (myth name too)
Cinder -- there's a character in the Kingkiller books named Cinder
Memory -- I went to college with a Memory who was a music major
Whistler -- I know one whose twin is Harper
I think I should stop now :Phttp://www.amazon.com/Angel-Blackwood/e/B00SARZLFY -- My Amazon Author Page
Proud Mama to:
Persephone Elysia Willow -- June 5th, 2013
Amelia Lorien Sophia -- December 2015.

Great list!! Gossamer stood out to me; I can't picture it on a real person, but on a character in a futuristic novel it totally works!
Someone in another thread recently mentioned Petrichor and I'm kind of digging it for a bizarre middle (not to mention the Doctor Who reference!)I hope to be a mom one day. For now I enjoy being a name lover.
My apologies for any typos; i post from my mobile phone.

Wonderful list! My favorites - the ones I would actually use starred:
I would add: Bluebell, Cerulean, Comfort, Guard, Revel, Reveille, Sunshine, Velvet. I just watched a birth announcement video for a little girl named Shine!
