I love River from Firefly (for a girl, just like her) but I don't know if I could actually name my daughter River, as much as I love it! The character is so badass too.

Inara (Firefly) is just such a gorgeous name, and I adore the character, but I suspect I'd feel conflicted about naming an infant after a fictional prostitute, no matter how awesome she is.
    College student, bookworm, terrible influence.

Ripley! So different from my usual taste in names, but Ellen Ripley is a badass and I'm a huge Alien fan (and a huge Sigourney Weaver fan as well). I believe that Thandie Newton named her daughter Ripley after that character and I totally understand that.

Also, does Mako (Mori, from Pacific Rim) count?
