    I don't understand all the dated talk going on here. Alexandra is a classic therefore is never dated. I would definitely use the longer form Alexandra Katharina. A truly beautiful name!

    I love Alex for girls. It's not dated at all. My Alexis is called Alex and its a perfect name .

    I think Alexandra Katharina is a beautiful combination. As someone with the name, I can tell you it makes it easier to have the long, "grown-up" version on your birth certificate. Even though most people do not call me my full name, I like the flexibility, and I love my formal name on paperwork.

    I don't mind it. Given the middle name Katharina I prefer Alex over Alexandra. Alexandra Katharina feels a bit clunky to me.
