First, I am very sorry for your loss.

Timea is quite nice and works well with Mandolin. But, for other options, perhaps looking names that have the same meaning as Tim would work. Timothy means "to honor God" so I searched for names meaning "honor."

Honor (Of course. Though, this maybe too wordy with Mandolin?)
Merida - "one who has achieved a high place of honor" (Too much alliteration?)
Titiana or Tatiana - "title of honor"
Annora or Enora or Nora - "honor"
    Briana - "strong, virtuous, honorable"
    Nabila - "honorable, noble"

    Best of luck!

Could you use a name that has the same meaning as Tim/Timothy?
It means honoring man, so I looked up names that meant honor and got:
    Annora
    Honora
    Nora
    Noreena
    and Timandra

I like Mandolin Honora a lot!

Thank you for all your suggestions everyone. To those who chose to address Mandolin anyway in a negative manner...opinions noted, outcome unchanged. "Silly, why would you do that to your kids" names run in the family. Better watch out, it's contagious, my husband likes it too. Best to stay out of the thread and be safe.

bellerose: I believe it's short for Timothy, but he was definitely Tim.

jem: Thanks for all your ideas. I hadn't though of the initials TIM. Our last name is a Mc name as well.

cristinamariane: I haven't seen/read that movie yet. But I've heard of it. I'll have to check it out. Thank you for the reference.

I just found the Indian name Timila. At first glance, how would you pronounce this? To me it was ti-MY-la.
