I always thought that Madalyn and Madelyn were modern youneek spellings of Madeline or Madeleine, but I'm surprised and rather pleased to see that both Madalyn and Madelyn have been in the ss 1000 for over a century, each! So they're not a modern incarnation of the more classic-looking Madeline or Madeleine. I think I can give my blessing on Madalyn if it's really the spelling you most prefer—since it actually DOES have some history and isn't just a modern youneek misspelling.
My preference is for the french Madeleine, however. It's supposed to be pronounced differently though—the emphasis is on the last syllable. "Mah-deh-LEHN." Which I think is beautiful.Newlywed and will be TTC soon.
