@bellerose people definitely give their children stranger names all the time.
I'm loving this name Rapunzel right nowI like distinct, memorable, exotic and preferably non-popular names. The kids with unique names wore them so well when I was younger and never got lost in the crowd.

One of my guilty pleasures...but I wouldn't be adventurous enough to go for it myself. It's definitely out-there, but I'd tell you to go for it. It's no stranger, to me, than Persephone, which has been used a lot lately, and is a lot more open to cool nicknames (Zel or Zella). Though if you decide not to go for it, I encourage you to consider Briar or Briar-Rose, which is beautiful, unusual and has the similar Grimm-classic-fairytale feel.Amedeo - Enjolras - Dimitri - Victor - Leo - Nikolai - Mischa - Liam - Benedict - Milo - Frederick - Isaac - FitzwilliamRosaline - Mirabelle - Artemis - Piper - Coralie - Ophelia - Elisabeth - Titania - Elowen - Stella - Andromeda - Thalia - Astrid

I'm usually a fan of offbeat names, but...No. Nope. Not even a little.
