I adore Catherine and I think it sounds more sophisticated than Charlotte, and it's less likely to have a big spike in popularity like Charlotte has recently - so it seems less trendy in my opinion.

I find Catherine to be somewhat bland, the only reason I would use Charlotte would be for the nn Charlie

Charlotte is pretty, but when forced to choose, I'd pick Catherine. It's sleek, elegant, and has a very rich history---definitely not boring. The Catherine spelling has been my favorite for at least a decade: it has a gentler but firm look.

I love Catherine - it is my daughter's middle name. I find Catherine to be much softer-sounding than Charlotte. However, I do like both names!

    Another suggestion is Clara.

Catherine is beautiful and definitely not boring! It's somewhere on my list and I might use it for a future daughter.
