    Opinions on Jed

    Hi!
My cousins name is Jed. It's not short for Jedediah, just Jed.
I don't really like it, but maybe my view of the name is tarred by my relationship with my cousin.
    What do you think?
    Thanks,
    Ellie xx

I actually prefer Judd to Jed. To me, Jed seems like an unfinished name....

To me it always sounded like some moonshiner living in the butt end of the South....

    This made me snort.

I know a guy named Jed in his early 20s, and he's about as Southern as you can get - muddy pickup truck, all the sleeves cut off of his Bass Pro Shop and Alabama football t-shirts, blue jeans that should have been thrown out two years ago, boots stained the color of red clay, wears his hunting clothes to class in the winter, rides down the road blaring Hank Williams... You get the picture. I like him though and don't mind guys like that, so it's not a negative to me. Most non-Southerners are probably put off by that image though.
