It sounds like you really like this. I wouldn't worry about its similarity to trendy names if it has such personal meaning. You can tell it meant a lot to your father for him to mention it after all this time. I think it would be a nice way to honor him.

Also, for what it's worth, I wouldn't consider anything like Silver or Sterling if your intention is to honor your father. He didn't want to name your brother Silver or Sterling, he wanted Paden. It doesn't really work to use something other than Paden, does it?

I didn't touch upon this in my post, but I agree very much with this.

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of it. It's sounds like an invented take on the Jayden/Aidan/etc craze, but if it has personal significance to you, I'd encourage you to go for it. After all, what are middle names for? It's much better than choosing a filler name just for rhythm's sake. Overall, it's an acceptable middle name, and Jack Paden (prn. pay-den, I assume) does sound rather dashing.

ps a middle wont help Jack be set apart, he wont be called Jack Paden everyday.
I agree. When I see Paden, all I see is trendy name that blends in with the -aden craze and even gets Peyton, too.
